Horn Artifact

Animal horns are often carved to make religious objects such as dorje hand implement or a phurpa ritual dagger. Some are carved in to statues or other religious shapes. The horns of rhinocero is considered special for making artefacts. Horns of bulls and antlers of deer are often stored as decoratives pieces. When a cow or bull which a family treasures dies, often the skull and horns of the animal is preserved near a holy shrine with Buddhist mantras written on the forehead.
