Side Drink

In order to help swallow the food with ease, Bhutanese have a beverage or a thin soup to drink with the main dishes. The soup is often made from fresh or dried green leaves crumpled in boiling water with some seasoning, oil and salt. This drink is also made using mushrooms or bitter cane shoots. Sometimes, a weak black tea with salt or sugar is served as a side beverage. Fresh or boiled milk, butter milk and wye are also served as hupcha side drink. People may also drink alcohol as a side drink with the food.
