Length and Distance
Before the availability of the modern tools for measuring distance and length, the traditional Bhutanese used many methods of indicating distance and length. These include visual indicators such as the distance of visibility, the size of an average field, etc. and physical distance such as the length of stretched arms, the length from elbow to tip of one's fingers, handspan, the width of one's thumb, etc. and motion based methods such as the distance of morning hike, a day's journey, archery range, etc.
