Tenth Day

Tshechu is the observance of festivals or ceremonies on the tenth day of Bhutanese lunar month, which is the holy day blessed by Guru Rinpoche. The day is celebrated in Bhutan with prayers to Guru Rinpoche and meditation practices associated with him. In some places, this is observed every month but in other places this is observed only once in a year with elaborate rituals, practices and public spectacles of cham dances. Most of the grand state festivals in dzongs are known as tshechu.
