Anniversary

Bhutanese do not celebrate birthdays but have grand celebrations of death anniversaries even for centuries. The kuchoe and gongzo events are death anniversaries of the great past masters on the day of the demise. Students gather to remember the master, make offerings and confessions to him or her and make prayers to live up to the ideals and standards of the master and fulfil his or her wishes.
