Other Rituals

Some communities observe a ceremonial event for seasonal offering called duechod. During the ceremony, the priests led by a lama perform a specific religious ritual for offering the various outcomes of the land and livestock to the enlightened dieties and tutelary gods. The ceremony is sometimes accompanied by mask dances and a great range of festivities. The village or a leading family of religious nobility sponsors and hosts the event and is attended by many people. Most of such festivities fall in the winter after the agricultural season is over.
