Dance of Warriors

Festivals such as the Punakha Drubchoe have important roles for the men, who act as warriors. As the festivals are enactments of the past wars and victory over the enemies, dances imitating war and battles are performed during these festivals. The men who take part in the festival as warrior perform the warrior dances. They are dressed with red and black costumes which resemble the dress of the mass in the old times, when the actual battles took place.
