Treadle Loom

The treadle loom was introduced to Bhutan in the early part of 20th century. It is a loom for which the weaver sits on an elevated seat and controls the shedding with her feet. The loom is not used for very wide warp, like on a backstrap loom, but people find it faster to weave on a treadle loom.
