Three Protectors Temple

The temple of the protectors of the three families in the southern part of Lhasa. The three heads of these families (rigs) are Mañjuśrī, Avalokiteśvara, and Vajrapāṇi. A temple dedicated to these three deities was established in each of the four cardinal directions of Lhasa during the imperial period. This temple is currently administered by Drok Riwoché Ganden Nampar Gyelwé Ling ('brog ri bo che dga' ldan rnam par rgyal ba'i gling) Monastery.
